Our Story
My son, Miller was diagnosed with Nonverbal Autism at the age of 2 1/2. My husband and I knew something was different with him, as he didn’t like to play with other children and he had a very difficult time transitioning between activities. As soon as he was diagnosed, we enrolled him into therapy. Because there were no therapy resources in our area, I had to drive an hour each way, four days a week. I will do anything for this little man! He is 4 now and we have seen such improvement! We have an ABA Therapist that comes into our home five days a week. Two days a week we drive the hour each way for OT and ST. It’s a full-time job, but I am happy to be able to provide these therapies for our son.
One evening while talking with my husband, I discussed wanting to help contribute to our family’s finances. However, it’s difficult to find a position that will allow me to take off for therapy while also working from home to accommodate the ABA therapist. My parents owned and operated a diner for 20 years, so cooking and food preparation has been part of my life since I was young. I decided to start a catering and charcuterie board business. This is something I love and will allow me to take Miller to all of his therapies. As a way to give back, 5% of each sale will be donated to a family with an Autistic child in need at the end of each year. Please consider Miller’s Boards Speak for your next event! No event is too small or too big!
